One-Day Workshop | Bath, UK | 13-Nov-2025
Shadows & Stone: A Photography Experience in Bath
Bath, UK
Thursday 13 November 2025
Limited to just six places
Fee: £165 (includes coffee(s), lunch and closing drink)
Time: 09:30hrs to 18:00hrs
Description
Spend a day photographing in the historic city of Bath, a UNESCO World Heritage Site where golden stone, layered histories and everyday life converge. Guided by photographer and writer Benedict Brain, this one-day experience invites you to look beyond the postcard views and explore Bath as a living, breathing place.
While we will be in one of the most photogenic cities in Europe, the emphasis will be on creative exploration, thinking about photography and why we take photographs. Together, we will move past the obvious vistas to discover overlooked details, stories, and fresh perspectives. It is about slowing down, mindfully engaging with the environment, and developing a more personal way of seeing.
This one-day experience offers:
Mentorship and guidance from Benedict Brain
Photographic walks through iconic and lesser-known areas of Bath
Lunch in a local café with space for conversation about art and practice
Group discussion and feedback to refine vision and narrative
A relaxed end-of-day debrief in a local pub or bar, first drink included
Open to photographers of all levels, from enthusiastic beginners to seasoned practitioners.
Schedule
Morning
Meet for introductions over coffee
Explore Bath with cameras, working beyond obvious viewpoints
Focus on observation, rhythm, and creative intent
Afternoon
Lunch in a local café with discussion of ideas and influences
Continued exploration of streets, parking lots, roundabouts and quieter corners
Group review and feedback session
Closing debrief in a pub/bar with a drink
